Puig outlines 2020 sustainability achievements

By Hibah Noor

The Puig Sustainability Program 2020 has enabled the company to make significant progress in its commitment to the environment. The long-term objective of the program is to continue to work with a sustainable business vision that generates a positive impact.

In 2020, Puig completed a Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) climate questionnaire for the first time, taking a further step in the measurement, transparency and adoption of measures that directly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Each year, the CDP gives a score to companies via this questionnaire based on their environmental disclosure and leadership. Last year, Puig reduced its corporate carbon footprint by 34% and scored a B grade.

Puig also pledged adherence to the global Science Based Targets (SBT) initiative, which helps companies set science-based targets aligned with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting the global temperature increase to 1.5 °C.

Despite the completion of the program, Puig remains committed to supporting the implementation of improvements to reduce carbon emissions. Moving forward, Puig will continue to expand the scope of its carbon footprint calculation and define a specific science-based reduction target, which will be a top priority from 2021.
