Beam Suntory launches Jim Beam Double Oak

By Wendy Morley

Jim Beam Double Oak will launch in GTR in July, in a 1L format

Beam Suntory, the world’s third largest premium spirits company, have announced the launch of the Jim Beam® Double Oak in Global Travel Retail. The product is a new take on Kentucky Straight Bourbon, and is made by maturing the Jim Beam signature whiskey in two American oak barrels.

Jim Beam Double Oak will launch in a 1L format in GTR in July and exclusively through Heinemann in European Travel Retail with the additional of a gift bag.

Michael Cockram, Global Marketing Director, Travel Retail at Beam Suntory, comments, “Over the last seven generations, we have demonstrated our commitment to innovation through the creation of new expressions worthy of the Jim Beam name. The release of Jim Beam Double Oak is our most recent edition to the Jim Beam family and we’re excited to share it with the world.”

“My family has been making history and producing bourbon for more than 200 years,” said Fred Noe, Jim Beam’s seventh Generation Master Distiller. “Throughout the decades, we have always enjoyed pushing boundaries and innovating while also staying true to our family’s traditions. Jim Beam Double Oak is the latest example of this.”

Jim Beam Double Oak is first matured in new charred American white oak barrels – as with all Kentucky Straight Bourbons from Jim Beam – before being transferred into a second charred oak barrel for a further period of ageing. The twice-barrelled production process allows the product to have greater contact with the wood, which draws out and balances flavours.

“More than ever before, consumers are searching for brands with genuine provenance and craftsmanship, so we are very excited to introduce Jim Beam Double Oak to the market to reinforce our heritage and expertise dating back to 1795,” says Fernando de Vicente Meirás, Sr. Global Marketing Manager GTR at Beam Suntory.
