CHHB calls on government to protect travel & tourism in Canada
Representing Canada’s hardest hit sectors (including tourism, arts, culture, events and hospitality), the Coalition of Hardest Hit Businesses (CHHB) is calling on the federal government to cancel the decrease in CEWS and CERS funding to protect these sectors from the near-certain financial crisis that they face.
CHHB is hosting an in-person event (virtual option available) on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, to gain support and generate awareness. The travel and tourism sector was the first to be hit, the sector to be hit the hardest, and will be the last to recover.
If businesses in the hardest hit sectors are allowed to fall victim to the CEWS and CERS withdrawal, a staggered re-opening and Canadians’ unavoidable urge to exit the country in cold months, the country will see the loss of its vibrant tourism and travel industry.
The event will feature the following speakers: Beth Potter, President & CEO, Tourism Industry Association of Canada, Susie Grynol, President & CEO, Hotel Association of Canada, and Philip Mondor, President, Tourism HR Canada.
