By Jas Ryat

The cruise industry is projected to continue to grow throughout 2019 with an estimated 30 million travelers expected to cruise, up 6% from 28.2 million in 2018.

This buoyant forecast comes from the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA)’s newly published 2019 State of the Cruise Industry Outlook.

In the coming year, 18 new ships are on order from CLIA cruise lines.

The majority of ships will be sailing in the Caribbean (34.4%), followed by the Mediterranean (17.3%) and Europe (11.1%).

China accounts for 4.9%, with 4.8% being deployed in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific; 4.7% in Alaska; and 4.3% in Asia.
