Essence Corp. celebrates 25 years and continues charitable efforts
Miami-based luxury goods distributor Essence Corp. begins each year with a week-long marketing meeting, including one day of “team building” that often involves working together with a charitable organization.
Last month the company, which celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year, chose the Green Urban Living Center (GULC) at Miami Dade College North campus as the location for its team building activity. A team of 55 employees spent the day at the GULC outdoor garden space, which is a Certified Wildlife Habitat and consists of an organic butterfly garden, an organic vegetable and herb garden, a compost area and a native Florida ecosystems habitat. The GULC garden serves as an important source of healthy food for the surrounding urban neighborhood. Team members weeded, mulched, and planted trees and vegetables.
Essence Corp. worked with Fairchild Palms, a group of young professionals dedicated to fundraising and volunteering for the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens Challenge Program. The challenge is an annual environmental education and awareness program that is replicated across the nation in elementary, middle and high schools to engage students to compete academically and excel in environmental and sustainable solutions. The challenge began in 2002 and continues as an outreach program of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.
