DFASS awarded 10 more years at Orlando International Airport

By Mary Jane Pittilla

Miami-based DFASS has been awarded a 10-year extension to its duty free/duty paid concession at Orlando International Airport.

Under the agreement, DFASS will operate a new 4,600sq ft duty free/duty paid store in the South Terminal central rotunda area, which is expected to open in late 2020.

In addition to its Airside 4 location in the North Terminal, the company will operate more than 9,600sq ft of duty free space.

The South Terminal store will feature duty free and duty paid liquor, tobacco, perfume, cosmetics, confectionery, fashion and accessories categories.

Omnichannel platforms will offer pre-order, targeted retail programs, home delivery and a broader product range, according to DFASS.

By 2025, the South Terminal passenger mix is expected to become over 40% international.

The new terminal will feature over 75 gates when complete and will be connected to the North Terminal.

The central atrium, where the retail operations are located, will provide seating for more than 600 passengers. All passengers will be exposed to the duty free store before walking to their gates.

DFASS said that the Orlando contract extension would expand the company’s retail strategy in the Americas.

The company aims to manage long-term duty free/duty paid operations capable of expanding and transforming as retail trends evolve.

Speaking of the contract extension, DFASS Executive Vice Chairman Roberto Graziani said: “We could not be more pleased with this contract extension.

“Our partnership in Orlando has been quite successful to date, and we now have a tremendous opportunity to take our operations to a new level.

“I am appreciative of Greater Orlando Aviation Authority’s confidence in our abilities and look forward to an even stronger, more fruitful relationship going forward.”
