Cartier “INTO LIGHT AND SHADOW” celebrates iconic stones & symbols

By Laura Shirk

With the tagline paper, panthers & precious diamonds, in partnership with DFS Group, the leading luxury travel retailer has crafted an immersive installation at its Macau flagship, which showcases the “timeless allure” of the Maison’s collection

Cartier, in partnership with DFS Group, the world’s leading luxury travel retailer, has transformed its boutique at T Galleria by DFS, Macau, Shoppes at Four Seasons, with its “INTO LIGHT AND SHADOW” experience. Described as a harmony of intricate swirling paper clouds and clusters of gemstones, this installation conjures a dance of light and shadow across the boutique that evokes the natural brilliance of Cartier Diamonds and envelopes the imagination with the timeless allure of the Maison’s collection.

The journey of discovery offers visitors to opportunity to discover the craftsmanship of light and shadow behind the artwork and creation of each Cartier Diamond

Created exclusively for the Cartier Boutique this festive season, this installation has been created in collaboration with renowned Hong-Kong contemporary artist, Pauline Yau. From November to January, visitors traveling or returning to Macau will be greeted by Cartier with an immersive journey of discovery through its handmade scenery.

A dance of paper, panthers and diamonds

Leading from the boutique through to a majestic centerpiece showcasing a curation of one-of-a-kind, high-end Cartier jewelry pieces, “INTO LIGHT AND SHADOW” brings to life the playful nature of the brand’s iconic Panther, as it keeps a watchful eye over the range of precious gemstones.

Teaming up with renowned Hong-Kong contemporary artist, Pauline Yau, Cartier brings to life the playful nature of the brand through the “magical transformation” of presentation

Intricately cut paper ribbons, which have been delicately patterned with the Panther motif, float across the boutique in cloud-like formations and create enigmatic shades of light and dark. Nestled among the clouds lie a selection of semi-transparent gemstones, which cast light and color onto the elegant white, gold, silver and mother-of-pearl material – the result mirrors the magical transformation of diamonds meeting light, each created through flawless cutting and presentation. Made up of more than 90 exclusive works, this art installation accentuates the high-end collection on display and invites the onlooker to uncover the brand's union with diamonds, emeralds and other precious stones.

“DFS is pleased to partner with Cartier on this spectacular ‘INTO LIGHT AND SHADOW’ installation to delight our discerning customers and further elevate the luxury shopping experience in Macau. Creativity, innovation and exceptional quality are the hallmarks of our long history with Cartier, and this latest collaboration truly brings these qualities to life. We look forward to welcoming travelers back to Macau and to the Cartier boutique this season for an exceptional, festive experience,” adds Matthew Green, Senior Vice President, Watches & Jewelry, DFS Group.

Following a major renovation, the Cartier Boutique at T Galleria by DFS, Macau, Shoppes at Four Seasons re-opened in February 2019. Developed by Bruno Moinard, Parisian artist and interior designer, the 333-sqm space combines modernity and tradition and presents the Maison’s latest architectural concept.
