The new vodka from AS Liviko celebrates 200 years since the discovery of Antarctica

AS Liviko has unveiled a new triple-filtered premium vodka to mark 200 years since the discovery of Antarctica.

Admiral von Bellingshausen Vodka is named for the Estonian-born explorer who led the circumnavigation of the globe which discovered Antarctica.

“This vodka, created by the craftsmen of Liviko, is a tribute to the life’s work of Estonian-born Admiral von Bellingshausen and to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica,” said AS Liviko CEO Janek Kalvi.

“Bellingshausen Vodka is an outstanding representation of Liviko’s 120 years of experience in vodka production, where knowledge and skills have been passed from generation to generation and craftsman to craftsman.”

The triple-filtration process involves the use of an active coal filter before the spirit and the water used to make the vodka are passed through a system of silver filters and a polishing filter to complete the process.

Kalvi added: “Triple filtration requires more time and prolongs the production process but gives Bellingshausen Vodka a clean and mild taste.”

The new vodka is aimed at the European and Asian markets, as well as duty free, and will launch in the Baltics in July before hitting the duty free market in the autumn.
