Lotte Duty Free temporarily closes Jeju store due to confirmed coronavirus cases

Lotte Duty Free has decided to temporarily close its Jeju branch store to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus to its customers and staff

Lotte Duty Free has announced the temporary closure of its Jeju branch tomorrow, due to confirmed cases of new coronavirus infection.

The retailer will decide when to reopen its store after consulting with the health authorities and the Jeju self-governing province authorities.

Lotte Duty Free confirmed that a Chinese tourist who was tested positive for the Coronavirus had visited its Jeju branch on Sunday (February 2). The tourist has since returned to Yangzhou, China today.

In accordance of Lotte’s internal manual, the company immediately withdrew its customers from the store. Lotte’s Jeju branch will also carry out additional quarantine work after the store closes today.

Commenting on the situation, Lotte’s official said: “To prevent the spread of the new Coronavirus in Korea and to ensure the safety of customers and employees, we have decided to close our operations today quickly and temporarily shut down our business.”
