DFS to open T Galleria in Queenstown, New Zealand
DFS Group has announced that it will open a new T Galleria store in Queenstown, NZ.
T Galleria by DFS, Queenstown will occupy 1,800 square meters of space across two floors of the new O’Connells retail and dining complex in the heart of Queensland. Currently there is no similar shopping experience in the city, where shoppers can purchase an assortment of some of the world’s most famous luxury brands.
This will be the first under DFS’ “Resort Galleria” concept. “Casual and sophisticated,” Resort Gallerias will feature both international and local brands, emphasizing a sense of place. In Queenstown, the store will feature an open and airy design created from natural, sustainable locally sourced materials. The store will be open by mid 2022.
Queenstown, which is located on the South Island, is a favorite holiday destination thanks to its dramatic alpine scenery, year-round activities and its excellent dining, hospitality and entertainment options. The city received approximately 1.2 million visitors in 2019, with 10 percent growth in international visitors from 2017 to 2019.
T Galleria by DFS, Queenstown will be DFS’ third location in New Zealand and the third store opening announced by DFS in 2021, to join its first downtown store in Hainan, China, opened in January with its partner Shenzhen Duty Free Group and a new T Galleria to be developed in Brisbane, Australia, by the end of 2022.
“We are very excited to introduce, for the first time in Queenstown, a carefully curated selection of the best luxury retail and finest local products, further enhancing the reputation and appeal of this beautiful resort among discerning global travelers,” said DFS Group Chairman and CEO Benjamin Vuchot.
“We are delighted to welcome T Galleria and its new resort store concept to O’Connells. It fits perfectly with our vision for the new O’Connells as a blend of quality shopping with an artisan, locally focused food and beverage offering. O’Connells has long been a meeting and social space for locals and visitors and having the T Galleria store as part of the redeveloped O’Connells not only continues this tradition but is a strong endorsement of the revitalisation of downtown Queenstown,” said Skyline Enterprises Chief Executive Officer Geoff McDonald.
