London Supply Group opens Rio Gallegos Duty-Free Zone
London Supply Group’s Patagonia Shops store at the newly opened Rio Gallegos Duty-Free Zone
Argentinean operator London Supply Group officially inaugurated the Rio Gallegos Duty-Free Zone and its commercial mall on October 18 in a ceremony attended by important national and provincial authorities, duty-free zone licensees and representatives from the company.
The venue, with a total area of 200 hectares, is located on the outskirts of Rio Gallegos, the capital of Santa Cruz province in the Argentine Republic, in a prime location close to the city airport, main communication arteries of Patagonia, and the border with Chile.
Additionally, its strategic proximity to Punta Arenas Free-Trade Zone offers residents and tourists a new local alternative and attracts customers who used to shop in neighboring Chile.
The new mall, which covers 4,000 square meters in total, includes London Supply Group’s new retail outlet, Patagonia Shops.
Patagonia Shops, spanning 700 square meters, offers perfumes, cosmetics and treatments; spirits, tobacco and confectionery; travel accessories and luggage; and apparel and fashion accessories.
The mall also houses 11 commercial spaces belonging to various categories: automotive accessories and hardware; lighting and home automation; toys; household items and bazaar; electronics; athletic wear; baby and maternity accessories; watches and jewelry; dining and a food court.
London Supply Group reported that more than 5,000 people visited the duty free zone on its opening day, and the total visitor count during its first week reached 26,500.
The company added: “But this is only the beginning. Because of its large size and authorizations, the Rio Gallegos Duty-Free Zone premises can accommodate more infrastructure and house many more shops and categories, making it not only an ever-growing first-rate commercial space, but a potential attraction and entertainment hub as well, comparable to the most advanced free-trade zones in the world.”
