Dufry wins 8-year tender at Recife Airport in Brazil

By Wendy Morley

Dufry has won the tender for both duty-free and duty-paid concessions for eight years at Recife International Airport in Brazil. The retailer has been operating at this airport, which is managed by Aena, for more than 26 years. Welcoming almost 9 million passengers each year, Recife offers domestic and international flights 24 hours a day, thus playing an important role in supporting the economy of the city and the entire Northeast Region of Brazil.

Under the new contract, Dufry will create four new stores covering 1,374 square meters. The retailer will operate a 431-square-meter walkthrough duty free store in departures and a 595-square-meter duty free store in arrivals.

These duty free shops will both offer a comprehensive selection of core duty free categories.

The duty paid offer will include two redesigned shops in departures: an 80-square-meter store landside and a 268-square-meter store airside. Both shops will offer core categories such as P&C, liquor and confectionery in addition to Hudson convenience.

Gustavo Fagundes, Chief Operating Officer for South America stated: “We are very proud to be able to continue our long-standing and successful collaboration with Recife International Airport and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners at Aena for their renewed trust. Our continued close collaboration will help us deliver a further improved shopping experience to almost 9 million passengers that visit the airport each year.”
