eKids clicks in travel retail as sales accelerate

By Jas Ryat

2019 will be an amazing year for eKids, the distributor of cutting-edge electronics products in collaboration with Disney and audio products manufacturer iHome.

That’s according to Gabriella Nogueira, Key Account Travel Retail International at eKids, which supplies a line of fashion-forward speaker systems, headphones, ear buds and other items featuring iconic characters.

Unique products for the travel retail market will be developed soon, in line with the needs of travelers.

eKids is now expanding to Europe and the Middle East, where the brand is now present at Bahrain Duty Free, Dufry Jordan and Qatar Duty Free. “All with great results and above our expectations,” Nogueira told Gulf-Africa Duty Free.

“We continue to expand in the Americas and have seen accelerated growth,” she added.

For 2019, the company has signed new licenses for Fingerlings, Smooshy Mushy, Rainbow Rangers, Dragons 3, and Top Wings.

It is also launching major lines for many of the new Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilm properties, such as Toy Story, Frozen, Aladdin, Lion King, the latest Marvel movie, and the last of the Star Wars trilogy.

“2019 is going to be a huge year,” enthused Nogueira. “Frozen 2 is scheduled to be released by the end of 2019 for the holiday season and is a huge bet when it comes down to product development. Blockbusters such as The Lion King, Aladdin, Toy Story and Dumbo are either gaining a re-make or a continuation movie.”
