Dubai Duty Free donated €20,000 to the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation charity at the recent annual Derby Ball in The K Club.
The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby festivities kicked off with the annual Derby Ball on June 30 in aid of the Kildare-based charity.
The fairy-themed ball, which took place on the eve of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, saw 250 revellers enjoy entertainment throughout the night.
Guests included Dubai Free CEO Colm McLoughlin and his wife Breeda, along with their family, and other representatives from Dubai Duty Free, including Sinead El Sibai with husband Jihad El Sibai, and Ramesh and Alpana Cidambi.
Other well-known guests on the night included model Roz Lipsett, presenter Eddie Hobbs, socialite Marcus Sweeney and his partner Carrie Pierce, and various representatives from Coolmore stud farm, who enjoyed a Champagne reception, which concluded with a troop of drummers from Slide Step leading the procession to the ballroom on the grounds of The K Club.
This year, Dubai Duty Free marked its 10th anniversary of title sponsors of the Irish Derby.
The black-tie gala, which was hosted by Tracey Piggott, included scenes of interpretive dancing with ballerinas and Irish dancers portraying the ball’s fairy theme, brought to life by Monica Loughman Elite Ballet Company and her performers.
The room was decorated with floral cherry trees on each table, woodland scenes and mood lighting, lending to the atmosphere of a real-life fairy ring.
Jack and Jill CEO Hugo Jellett gave an evocative speech on the charity’s activities and goals, which concluded with Henry Beeby from Goff’s kicking off the auction.
The night raised €64,000, which equates to over 4,000 hours of nursing time for Jack and Jill babies, according to Dubai Duty Free.
