Beirut Duty Free sets up disaster fund in wake of Lebanon explosion

By Mary Jane Pittilla

Donations are flooding into an industry-backed victim support fund to help the people of Beirut following the devastating explosion in the Lebanese city on August 4.

Adrian Bradshaw, General Manager of Beirut Duty Free, is organizing a fundraising page on the GoFundMe.com website titled Beirut Humanitarian and Victim Support.

Beirut Duty Free is a partnership between Phoenicia Trading and Aer Rianta International (ARI).

On its LinkedIn page, ARI said: “On August 4, Beirut experienced a catastrophic event, which comes at a very difficult time for Lebanese people who were already faced with a major economic crisis, devaluation of their currency and a significant increase in COVID-19 cases.

“In support of our colleagues in Beirut Duty Free, their friends and families, our partners, and all those who have been impacted by this tragedy, we appreciate any kind support, to help their community via this GoFundMe page. All donations will be gratefully received and given to the Red Cross Lebanon, Dafa Campaign and other charity organisations that are working tirelessly to help those impacted.”
