Heinemann allows shopping anytime, anywhere, with mobile home delivery service

By Wendy Morley

Home delivery is now available when you purchase duty free from Heinemann

Heinemann, a pioneer in travel retail and one of the top travel retail operators in the world, now offers a home delivery service. Whether passengers order online or in person at one of Heinemann’s Duty Free locations, they can have their purchases delivered to their doorstep – or the doorstep of the person receiving their gift. This makes shopping while traveling much easier and saves time.

The delivery service has been tested over the past year and a half in Hamburg. “the take-up amongst our customers has been very good” says Raoul Spanger, Managing Director for Retail at Gebr. Heinemann.

The company recently launched a new website that offers a shop optimized for all devices: desktop, laptop, smartphone and tablets. Along with its new site, Heinemann has been offering a pre-ordering service before their journey.

According to Spanger, it was a logical move to add home delivery to pre-order. “We offer travelers the option to order conveniently online and have items delivered directly to their homes,” he says. “Gebr. Heinemann’s core business remains the bricks-and-mortar travel retail market, but that now also involves giving our customers the usual outstanding level of service quality whenever they want it. That is why we decided to supplement our bricks-and-mortar outlets at airports with the option to order online.”

The delivery service is available only within Germany. The customer must be over 18, must have a valid email address and must have been traveling with both a point of departure and arrival within the EU.
