Day one wraps up for 2022 Summit
Day one of the 2022 Summit closed after a day of learning sessions and the exhibit open.
Following the welcome comments from Rene Riedi, IAADFS Chair, and keynote address from Rasmussen, Chairman and CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail, Dermot Davitt of The Moodie Davitt Report took the stage with four panelists for the Toward a ‘New Normal’ for airport concessions discussion.
Panelists included Jean-Baptiste Morin, COO, Lagardère TR Americas; Jordi Martin-Consuegra, Region CEO, Hudson; Ken Buchanan, Executive Vice President, Revenue Management, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (invited); Andy Weddig, Executive Director, Airport Restaurant & Retail Association. The talk addressed how despite increasing and collectively evolving the travel retail business model is key to moving forward.
In the afternoon session Cruise retail in the post-Covid climate, moderated by Kapila Ireland, Editor at DFNI, three speakers looked how cruise retail is navigating a positive course. Mike Hussinger Turek, Chief Commercial Officer, Starboard Cruise Services; Marcos Zobel, Sales Director Travel Retail & Cruise Ships Americas, Victorinox; and Peter Mohn, Owner & CEO, m1nd-set, discussed the ever-changing environment and the latest research and insights on US cruise guest shopping behavior.
In the final session, Are you ready for the future of work? moderator Lois Pasternak, Editor/Publisher of Travel Markets Insider, discussed how the pandemic has changed work habits. Presenters Noella Vincent, Professional Coach and Founder of Coach Your Ambitions; Jackie McDonagh, General Manager and Director, Aer Rianta International North America; Patricia Bona, Vice President, Essence Corp, and President, Alliance Francaise of Miami Metro discussed the impact of technology, ways to face the new workplace reality and the hidden challenges that come with these trends.
Out on the exhibitor floor, attendees caught up for meetings and presentations on the latest products and projects.
