Lotte Duty Free has donated KRW30 million (US$25,287) to a global charity helping children with heart disease at a donation ceremony on October 14.

In a press release, the retailer said that this is the ninth year it has provided financial support for children with heart disease in developing countries, through its “Love Heart” program.

This year, Lotte is supporting the surgery costs for 12 children with heart disease in Vietnam. These children come from families with an average monthly income below KRW130,000 (US$110) so they are unable to pay for the cost of surgery. Lotte will continue monitoring the children’s recovery after the surgery.

Commenting on the program, Kim Joo-nam, head of Lotte Duty Free’s support division said: “We are happy to give hope to children in need through the Love Heart project. We will continue to carry out various corporate social responsibility projects at home and abroad.”
