Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup returns after two years

By Wendy Morley in Dubai

The annual Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup is back after the event's cancellation in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The tournament, which attracts senior executives from the travel retail industry, is taking place over two days at the Montgomerie Golf Club Dubai on November 24 and Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club on November 25, respectively.

The 28th edition of the invitational golf tournament has attracted over 85 executives from the international duty free industry with around 45 overseas players set to descend on Dubai after a gap of two years.

The tournament kicks off directly after this year's Middle East and Africa Duty Free Association (MEADFA) Conference in Dubai.

Following the first day of golf on November 24, guests were invited to enjoy Dubai Duty Free's hospitality at the popular The Irish Village in Garhoud, with entertainment lined up for the evening.

Dubai Duty Free's Executive Vice Chairman and CEO Colm McLoughlin was unfortunately unable to attend this year, but sent his best wishes to all and expressed his pleasure that so many were able to participate, especially during such a year when some were unable to come because of travel restrictions.

The event will continue at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club on Thursday, with the final awards being given out Thursday evening.
